First Spanish Words will introduce your child to concepts including:

COURSE OVERVIEW

This introductory course helps you teach your child Spanish vocabulary based on themes such as places, animals, food, the house, and fun activities. Your child will learn about unique aspects of the Spanish language, such as who speaks it, accent marks, cognates, grammatical gender, and useful phrases, through a mix of learning videos featuring the lovable alien Gooloo Gooloo and interactive activities.

By the end of this course’s 15 lessons, your child will have learned many common words and some of the elements that make the Spanish language special.

LESSON 1: PLACES I: WHERE YOU LIVE

Begin your child’s Spanish language journey with our lesson on vocabulary related to places! Your child will learn key words such as casa (house), ciudad (city), apartamento (apartment), pueblo (town), and edificio (building) that will help them understand and communicate effectively when talking about different locations.

LESSON 2: PLACES II: WHERE PETS LIVE

Continue your child’s journey toward fluency with our lesson on Spanish vocabulary related to pets. Your child will learn key words such as mascota (pet), afuera (outside), and adentro (inside) as well as the importance of accent marks in Spanish. They’ll understand how accent marks indicate where stress should be placed in a word, giving them the necessary skills to communicate effectively and speak Spanish with precision.

LESSON 3: PLACES III: AT THE POOL

Help your child make a splash with these Spanish vocabulary words related to the pool! Your child will learn key words such as agua (water), frente (in front), piscina (pool), and detrá (behind). Grab your swimsuits and let’s dive in!

LESSON 4: ANIMAL I: BIRDS (FEATHER FUN)

LESSON 15: PLAYTIME III: AT A BIRTHDAY PARTY

Get ready to party en Español! In this lesson that’s all about having fun at a birthday party, your child will expand their Spanish vocabulary and practice speaking the language in context. From fiesta (party) to pastel (cake), velas (candles) to regalo (present), your child will learn the key vocabulary to join in the birthday bash. So grab a slice of pastel and celebrate!
